14-year old Mei-Nuo was disowned by her family after she got brutally attack and raped by an ogre while travelling to some relatives a few towns away. It didn't take long before she realised she had gotten pregnant from the assault and that's when her family threw her out. Forced to live on her own she took shelter in the slums of Teziir where she survived by either begging on the streets or occasionally cleaning in small taverns. When her child was born, she fled the life of the city and ended up in a small village where she was allowed to stay in a small rickety shack while working as a milk-maid. Zydranus spent most of his early years in and around their home. His mother heard the whispering and gossiping of the other villagefolk. Even though he looked sort of human, the child was unusually large for his age, and his orange nails and teeth gave away his true nature. When Zydranus was six years old, the village was attacked by a large group of bandits. They pillaged all the houses and kidnapped several women, including Mei-Nuo and her son. One of the bandits however took an interest in the fair young woman. His name was Rias and although somewhat skeptical about her offspring he soon bonded with the young child. Mei-Nuo was at first reluctant at Rias' attempts to woo her, but he seemed to geniunely like Zydrunas and while the other women taken from the village were sold off a slaves, Rias made sure that the mother and child were kept safe and well-fed. Even though Rias and Mei-Nuo's relationship was rather one-sided, she was geniunely sad when he died. Most of the once-bandits had turned in to mercenaries, Rias was no exception. Zydrunas was sixteen at the time. His natural large size and strength combined with Rias' training had made him well versed in the ways of battle. He had accompanied Rias and the others out to the battlefield. It was a massacre. The mercenaries were fed to the enemies like cannon fodder. All the others that were hired alongside of them fell shortly. The regular troops were held back by their lord and Zydrunas found himself kneeling down on the battlefield as the man who had helped raise him slowly died in his arms. What happened after he doesn't remember himself. All he know is that he returned home. Wounded, with one eye less and the body of his 'father'. They told him that he completely lost it at the battlefield. His rage fueld him through the fight, and somehow the tides turned. The lord let lose his armies on the enemy and they won. Mei-Nuo was devastated that her son had been injured so badly, and her heart broke as she and her son buried their once-captor. She wanted to get away from the mercenaries and gathered what little assets Rias had managed to scrape together. They moved to a small cabin on the outskirts of a village. His mother finally seemed to be at peace there, caring for her chickens and her goats. Although as time passed, Zydrunas grew more and more restless. Eventually the day came when he decided to leave in search for adventure. At first his mother was distraught, but after some convincing she gave her blessing.
